Harry L. McGee, 54, of 1940 Peosta, Northern Pacific Railway section worker, died Monday at the Veterans' Administration Hospital, Fort Harrison following an extended illness.
Mr. McGee was born Sept. 11, 1910, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Dave and Effie Cox McGee. He served with the U.S. Army as a private first class between March 3, 1942 and May 12, 1944, participating in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign.
Following his release from the service, he returned to Helena and was engaged in the saddle making trade. He later ranched in the Austin area until 1953 when he returned to Helena and began work for the railway.
He was a member of the National Rifleman's Club.
Survivors include his widow, the former Lillian Beckett, whom he married on May 1, 1945, in Helena; son, Wayne D., and grandson, Wayne W. Jr., both of Libby; another son, Harry Lewis McGee, and daughter, Linda Lucille, both of Helena; sister, Florence Vaughn, Walker, Mo., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John B., and sister, Nellie Carberry.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Thursday in the Retz Chapel with Chaplain H. M. Waldron officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
