Services for Evelyn G. Chapman, 86, of Rock Island, are 11 a.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo. The Rev. Donald Batz, First United Methodist Church, Rock Island, will officiate. Burial is in Aledo Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Mrs. Chapman died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, in Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
The former Evelyn Gustafson was born May 5, 1913, in Aledo, the daughter of Theodore and Josephine (Bjorkman) Gustafson. She graduated from the former Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Moline. She married Harold Davis on March 26, 1938, in Davenport. She married William Chapman on Feb. 28, 1970, in Rock Island. He died May 15, 1999.
Evelyn was employed by Deere and Co. as a shop nurse for 19 years, retiring in 1972. She previously was a nurse at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo, and did private duty nursing.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Rock Island, and a life member of Illinois Registered Nurses Association.
She was a basketball and baseball fan, and enjoyed needlepoint, gardening, and traveling.
Evelyn is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Orin Rockhold of Milan; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Beth Davis of Illinois City, and Bruce and Marilynn Davis of Highland Park, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Carol Joekema of Ontario, Calif.; a stepson and his wife, Louis and Jean Chapman of Rock Island; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; and sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruby Allen of Reynolds, and Amy and Andrew Koresko of Aledo.
