The son of John Hadfield, Albert died at Fort Benjamin Harrison at the age of twenty-eight.

Prior to his service with Co. G, 1st Provisional Battalion, he was employed at Consolidated mine No. 17. He had left Collinsville on September 18th with the large group of men who had been drafted and taken to Camp Taylor. He became a regimental bugler after he was transferred to Fort Benjamin Harrison.

He was survived by his father, two brothers, Sam and Will, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Getz and Mrs. Bertha Martin.
