----CUMBERLAND,MARYLAND — Anna Mae Clauson, 81, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, June 21, 2010, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 2, 1928, in Cumberland, Mrs. Clauson was the daughter of the late William Henry Poorbaugh and Maude Genevieve (Robinette) Poorbaugh.

A graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1946, Anna also graduated from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and received her Master's Degree in Public Health Administration from Frostburg State University. She retired from the Allegany County Health Department as Director of Physical Health, after 29 years of Maryland State Service. Anna was a member of Saint Luke's Lutheran Church; the Maryland Nursing Association; the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center Auxiliary; and the Red Hats Society. She also volunteered in the emergency room at the WMHS Memorial Hospital.

Anna is survived by her husband of 61 years, John L. Clauson; her daughters, Dianne E. Kuhns and her husband David, of Sebring, Fla., and Carolyn S. Clauson-Andrews and her husband Charles, of Cumberland; her brother, Earl Poorbaugh and his special friend Gertrude Kifer, of LaVale; her sister, Virginia Scritchfield, of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; her grandchildren, Jennifer Rose, and Heather Rose, both of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Charles "C.J." Andrews and his wife Savannah, of Cumberland; and her great-grandchildren, Gavin Jenkins, Elliana O'Hara, John Andrews, and Katharine Andrews.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur St., Cumberland, (www.AdamsFamilyFuneralHome.com) on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted in Saint Luke's Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 24, 2010, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen Yelovich officiating.

Interment will be in the Maryland State Veterans' Cemetery at Rocky Gap.

The family requests that memorials be made in her name to Saint Luke's Lutheran Church, 1601 Frederick St., Cumberland, MD 21502.
