FUQUAY-VARINA - Dr. George William (Bill) Adcock Jr., 81, died Friday, May 4, 2001 after a prolonged illness.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Patton Adcock, daughters, and sons-in-law, Annette and Sieg Shalles of Los Alamos, New Mexico and Susan and Sammy Smith of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren Jennifer McAllister of Belfast, Maine and Taylor Smith of Fuquay-Varina; brothers, Stewart and Robert Adcock of Fuquay-Varina as well as six nieces and two nephews. He will be missed by Texanna Washington and Waylon Jones, longtime family friends.
Dr. Adcock was an Army veteran of the European theater during World War II and was in the private practice of dentistry in Fuquay-Varina from 1947-1984. He served as a town commissioner and as the president of the Bank of Varina, Chairman of the board of Southern National Bank in Fuquay-Varina and served on the board of directors at BB&T in Fuquay-Varina.
The funeral service will be at Thomas Funeral Home chapel on Monday, May 7, at 11 a.m. followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
