Born Camille Finn Albach on 3 March 1911 on the family homestead in a limestone house near Luray, Russell, Kansas. The house had been built from limestone quarried by his maternal grandfather from his quarry in 1888 and was the site where all of his siblings were born. The name "Finn" was the maiden name of his paternal Grandmother. Later in life he picked up the nickname "Doc" and that is what everyone knew him by.

At the age of 19 on 21 May 1930 he married Lilly Lewelyn McMurry in Luray Kansas. To this union 2 sons and 2 daughters were born. Doc & Lil farmed and Doc flew his airplane at Air Circus in Luray Kansas and then homesteaded in Wyoming on Brown's Hill in 1935. Later he worked as a heavy equipment operator on road construction for 30 years. He was a member of Operating Engineers No. 9. He retired at the age of 62 and moved to Colorado.

In his spare time he enjoyed looking for gold and was an avid reader.
