Charles was a full-blood Creek Indian and the son of George and Lula Peters Colbert, of Haskell, Muskogee County, Oklahoma. His siblings were Isom, Lois and George Colbert. He joined the Army on February 2, 1943, served with Company D, 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, and died of his wounds during the Italian Campaign in WWII. Awarded the Order of the Purple Heart. Military ID#38464182
