CHARLES PELTON ABBEY, son of Benjamin and Vienna Matilda (Pelton) Abbey, born in Portland, Conn., December 11, 1845.
He was in the tobacco business in Portland until 1883; in Brooklyn, N. Y., from 1883 to 1899, when he retired to Portland. He enlisted in Compam D, 20th Connecticut Volunteers, as a Private, August 4, 1862, served in the battles of Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Pesaea and in Sherman's March to the Sea; received his discharge May 23, 1865. Mr. Abbey is a 32d degree Mason, a member of Mecca Temple, and a charter member of Kismet Temple of Brooklyn. He was a member of Ulysses Grant G. A. R. Post in Brooklyn; transferred upon his return to Connecticut to Mansfield Post of Middletown. Mr. Abbey has taken a great interest in microscopical research, was president of the microscopical department of the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences, also a member of the same department in the New York Academy of Arts and Sciences, of which he is now a corresponding member and exhibitor in their annual exhibitions.
He is also a member of the Mineralogical Society of Brooklyn. He is a member of the Congregational Church.
Married in West Chester, Conn., September 4, 1867, ANNA E. DAY, born April 26, 1844, in Colchester, Conn., daughter of Isaac Henry and Sarah E. (Williams) Day.

Henry Davis Abbey, b. June 9, 1877. He was a U. S. detective for many years, in the government gun works at South Bethlehem, Pa., Montreal. Canada, and elsewhere, is now with the Western Electric Company in New York. He was graduated from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, and attended Stevens Institute of Technology. Married Jan. 7, 1909, Cecillia Larralde of Brooklyn, b. in Caracas, Venezuela, daughter of a French marquis of the old nobility in his own right.

He was a graduate of Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, learned the trade of mechanical dentist which he followed until 1905, when he moved to Gildersleeve, Conn., to superintend the Abbey farm. Mr. Abbey has been especially proficient in gymnasium work and boxing, was a member of Central Y. M. C. A. in Brooklyn, and a leader in the Prospect Park branch, Y. M. C. A. Since his return to Connecticut he has been physical director of the Middletown Y. M. C. A. and the Young Emeralds T. A. B. Society of Portland. He is a member of the Founders and Patriots of America through his mother's paternal ancestor, Robert Day.
