Anyone who knew Howard had a true friend for the whole ride. "Just dial "H" for Howard and I'll be there" he would say and he meant every word of it. There was nothing Howard wouldn't do for his family or his friends and no one, but no one, told a story or a joke with as much enthusiasm and spirit as Howard. He was born in Enterprise, but moved to Klamath Falls OR where he grew up and went to schools. He enlisted during WWII in the US Army. When the war was over, he was introduced to Doris Curtin and they married January 3, 1948. Ho and Do had six children all raised on a family-size farm in Clark County Washington with a spectacular view of Mt. St. Helens. Howard worked for several years as a maintenance supervisor for the City of Vancouver until his retirement in 1978. In retirement, the Baffords enjoyed an easier life of travel, leisure and family. Howard passed away on the last day of the last month of the last year in the last millenium. His huge smile and warm nature will always be remembered and sorely missed by anyone lucky enough to have known Howard.
