Charlotta was born 5 MAR 1837 in Bissendorf, Hanover, Germany (near Osnabrueck), Osnabruck, Niedersachsen, Germany. Her parents were Heinrich Fredick Johann "Kurt" Otte (1806 – 1870) and Sophie Ilsa Marie Dorethea Balke ( – 1839). She had an older sister Sophie Dorethea born in 1835. Charlotta's mother died and her father married Dorethea Louise Sophie Walken about 1839. They had three children. The family left Bremen, Germany on Sept 8, 1845 on the Brig Weser and arrived in Galveston, Galveston County, Texas Nov. 27, 1845. Listed on the ship records: Otte, Heinrich Friedrich , Sophie nee Walken ,Sophie, Carlotte , Johann , Dorethea , Wilhehelmine from Bipendorf, Hanover. The family took the wagons moving immigrants west to New Braunfels, Comal Co, Texas. They were living in immigrant camp in a tent when diseases raged in camp and her step-mother and Wilhelmina or Wilhelm died. Her father moved the family to Fredericksburg, Gillespie Co, Texas. He married a widow Johanne Elesae Louise Henrietta Wiesemeyer Bahntge and they had five more children. Charolotta was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg in 1853 at the age of 16. She married Ewen Cameron who was stationed at Fort Martin Scott near Fredericksburg and they had one son August. They divorced and she married Heinrich "Henry" Langerhans (1835 – 1912). They had 7 children: William Friedrich, Henry, Bertha, Frederick "Fritz", Christine, Hellena, and Theodore. Her husband died in 1912 and she died in 1918.
