Born in Winamac on Dec. 25, 1918, he was the son of Rudolph and Alma Shaw Cunningham. He was a 1937 graduate of Battle Ground High School.
His first marriage was to Grace Scowden on June 13, 1940, in Chalmers, and she died in March of 1944. He married Maxine G. Jenkinson on July 14, 1945, in Battle Ground and she died July 3, 1990.
Mr. Cunningham retired in 1981, after working for 43 years with Ralston-Purina in Lafayette.
He was a member of Lafayette Eagles Lodge #347 and a charter member of the Old Timers Club. He enjoyed fishing.
Surviving are a son, Robert L. Cunningham (wife: Joan) of Monticello; a daughter, Sharon Workinger (husband: John) of Delphi; three brothers, Bruce Cunningham (wife: Barb) of Battle Ground, Paul Cunningham (wife: Wanda) of Matthews and George Cunningham (wife: Pat) of West Lafayette; a sister, Edna Pettit (husband: Lyle) of Battle Ground; seven grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Cunningham and John Cunningham, and a sister, Marian Moss.
Services were held Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, with burial at Battle Ground Cemetery.
