The Minden (La) Democrat (Aug. 11, 1911)

Mrs. Mat Lowe was called to Cotton Valley by the death of her nephew Mr. Robert Davis after this sad mission she left for Fayetville, Ark., to be with her sister, Mrs. Banks whose health causes much anxiety.

The family connections who attended the funeral of Mr. Bob Davis, at Cotton Valley were: Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Davis, Mrs. John Tillman and daughter Fannie, Mrs. Mary Gray and Miss Martha Gray, Mr. and Mrs. Penn Ventress, of Clinton, La. and Mr. John Haley of Sherman, Tex. The death of Mr. Robert Davis in the full flush of manhood has caused the deepest sorrow and to the widowed mother the sincerest sympathy is extended. Mr. Davis was a young man of finest character possessing a mind of unusual brilliance and his untimely passing away is but another sorrow that has to be born with christian submission. He was a guest in the home of his uncle, Mrs. Chas. Davis on Monday and on Thursday loving relatives came to pay the last tribute of love and respect to this promising young man.
