Samantha Ann Waggoner was born on July 25, 1837 in Indiana, daughter of Henry and Jane Harris Waggoner. She became the wife of Rev. William Baker in 1853 at the age of 15, and the couple raised their children in the Martin County area. Samantha died on May 29, 1900, in Martin County of cirrhosis of the liver and is buried beside William in the Silverville First Baptist Church Cemetery. Her grandmother was Sarah Boone, Sarah Boone's grandfather was Josiah Boone, Sr, was a first cousin to Daniel Boone.
