ANDERSON, Ind. โ€” Margaret Valena (Foland) Day Hartley, 93, Anderson, died May 23, 2010, at Miller's Merry Manor, Chesterfield.

She was born June 7, 1916, in Linwood, Madison County, the daughter of Walter Foland and Estle (Hilbert) Foland, and lived her whole life here. She had worked in the horn department of Delco Remy for 30 years, retiring in 1976.

She was a member of Bethany Christian Church. She was a former member of United Auto Workers Local 662 and the Chesterfield American Legion. She was very diligent about keeping her yard mowed.

Survivors include sons, Corwin and Michael (Kay) Day; a daughter Phyllis Downham; step-daughter Karen (Richard) Towner; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and cousins; and special friend, Minnie Parish.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Day, in 1962; second husband, Pete Hartley in 1978; son, Edwin Day; sisters, Laura Wehner; Mary Shivley, Jessie Fetty and Maxine Price; brother, Elmer Foland; grandson, Darren Day; and son-in-law, Claude Downham.

Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Guilkey Funeral Home, Anderson, with the Rev. Gary Klinger officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be noon to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
