Zelek was called Deacon and was a member of the Congregational Church. They lived in Providence, Rhode Island, after their marriage and this was where their first two children were born. About 1822, they moved to Sutton, Worcester Co., Massachussetts, where they lived until 1842, when they moved to Milford, Massachussetts. In Milford, Zelec had a shoe store on Main Street. He was a representative to the state legislature in 1842 and 1843.
After his death, Sarah administered his estate. He had assets of $1249 and debts of $1012, leaving $237 for the heirs. Surviving Zelec were his wife, Sarah, and his three children, Eleanor Crocker, Rodney Darling, and Melancy Day.

3) Rodney Luther Darling, b. 6 Nov., 1822 in Sutton, Ma., d. 11 Jun 1894, bur. in Pine Grove Cemetery, Milford, marr. 8 Oct., 1844 in Sutton Permelia Cox Darling. Permilia was born 20 April, 1827 in Sutton and died 19 July, 1914, buried in Pine Grove Cemetery, Milford. Permilia was the daughter of William and Permilia (Cox) Darling.
4) Melancy Lawton Darling, b. 2 Apr., 1830 in Sutton, marr. 8 Jan. 1852 in Milford, Ma., Charles S. W. Day, b. 30 Mar. 1825 in Rutland, d. 24 Oct., 1886, age 61 yr., 6 mth., 24 d., in Milford, son of Stephen Whitney and Elvira L. (Fiske) Day.
