STEWART, Donald Lee Died on May 3rd, 2010 of complications related to cancer. He was born in 1934 to Frank and Dorcas Stewart in Durant, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of five children (Sara Jo Stober, Paul Stewart, Betty Bob Massey, and Anna Lou Park) and is survived by Paul and Betty Bob. He married Roberta Lorene Laird in 1958 in Oklahoma City, and they raised three children, Roger Stewart, Donna Bogard, and Lynne Angulo. In addition he had nine grandchildren (Paul Bogard, Deborah Stokes, Becky Bogard, Christie Bogard, Karen Angulo, Eric Angulo, Mark Angulo, Andrew Stewart, and Lauren Stewart). Don retired from the Army after serving in the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 9th Infantry Divisions and the 196th Light Brigade. He had one tour in Korea (62-63) and two in Vietnam (68-69, and 71-72). He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) and retired as a First Sergeant in 1976. Following retirement, Don lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Waco and Dallas, Texas, and he spent several years travelling in an RV before settling in Fairborn, Ohio in 1999. They attend Aley United Methodist Church where they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Admired for his patience, Don was quiet and unassuming, never one to draw attention to himself. He was a working man. A good soldier. Honest and trustworthy, he prided himself in always being fair to those around him. Don will be buried in the family plot in Durant, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held at Aley United Methodist Church in Beavercreek, OH on Friday, May 7th at 10:00 AM. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers to Aley United Methodist Church or Hospice of Dayton.
