Walter William Bland, the son of Thomas Roland Bland and Sarah Robinson, was born August 24, 1859 in Hardin County, Kentucky. He was the husband of Susan C. "Sudie" Hawkins, the daughter of Riley Hawkins and Mildred Miller of Breckinridge County, Kentucky. Sudie was born there on July 2, 1872.

Walter and Sudie (Hawkins) Bland were the parents of known children: Ethel, b. Jun 1894; Dessie Pearl, b. Jun 1895; Mack, b. ca 1896; Lula, b. Jul 1898; Nora, b. Aug 1899, Thomas, b. May 1900; Carl, b. 24 May 1900; Howard b. 27 Mar 1908; and Pauline, b. 1912. It is probable that Thomas and Carl are the same person, using Thomas in the 1910 census and Carl in the 1920 census. Other records show that Dessie Bland, the daughter of Walter and Susan C. Hawkins, and the wife of Evan Bruner Lile, was born on September 10, 1890.

Walter William Bland died in 1948. He was buried in the Sanders Cemetery in Grayson County located on Highway 187 near Liberty Church. His wife and several of their children are also buried there.
