Betty Jane Breighner Bowers, 70, of Kingsland, Texas, died Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Hill County Health Care Center, Llano, Texas.

Born Feb. 19, 1924, near Littlestown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late P. Edward and Mary N. Collins Breighner. She was the wife of Ralph V. Bowers II, to whom she was married for 49 years.

She graduated from Littlestown High School in 1942 and was employed as a secretary by Cambridge Rubber Co. for a number of years. She was last employed by Fort Hood Army Base, Texas, as a statisticians clerk. She retired from there in 1986. She was a member of the First Union Church Interdenominational at Buchanan Dam, Texas, where she served as either secretary or treasurer.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary L. Buss of Amberson, Pa. and Lori J. Bergthal of Austin Texas; two sons, Ralph V. "Chip" Bowers III of Texas and Greggory N. Bowers of Granthom, Pa; two grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Frock of Littlestown, Sara Martin of Spring Grove and Erma Sentz of Hanover; and one brother, Elwood Breighner of Littlestown.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Waldrope Hatfield Funeral Home, Kingsland, Texas with her pastor the Rev. Richard Ayers, officiating. Interment will be in the Llano Municipal Cemetery, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Adam Bowers, Gregg Bowers, James Buss, Warren Sanderford and Donald Ervi.
