Dallas Morning News-Jack Lee Edwards of Dallas, Texas passed away at home May 13, 2010. He was born February 27, 1934 in Converse, South Carolina to Crawford B. and Irene Mayten Edwards. He is survived by his wife MaryAnn, daughter Valerie Kuykendall and husband Bud; daughter Ginnie Combs; son Marcus Combs and wife Lana; daughters Annette Tunnell and Jackie Fredrick; brothers Pat Edwards and wife Joyce and Wayne Edwards and wife Barbara, both of Spartanburg, SC; nine adored grandchildren; and much loved Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He is also survived by close family friend Susan Mycoskie. He was preceded in death by his Parents and two Brothers, Bud and Bill Edwards. He proudly served his Country in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. Jack received his Bachelors Degree in Engineering at East Texas State University after serving for ten years on the Phoenix and Dallas Police Departments. He retired as Vice President of Research and Development at Fritz Industries. Jack was actively involved in numerous Masonic Organizations including Roy Stanley Masonic Lodge #1367 - past Master, served as DDGM Grand Lodge of Texas, 32nd degree KCCH Mason with Dallas Scottish Rite, a member of Hella Shrine, a member of Dallas Commandery #6, a Member of Seagoville Chapter and Council and a Member of the Order of the Eastern Star where he served as Worthy Patron. He was a long time member of White Rock United Methodist Church and the Harmony Sunday School Class. Spending time with his family and children always came first and he thoroughly enjoyed his time coaching YMCA sports teams, sponsoring church youth activities, and participating in programs with YMCA Camp Grady Spruce. The family will receive friends at Sparkman/Crane Funeral Home, Sunday, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 17th at White Rock United Methodist Church with Rev. Dick Atkinson officiating. Interment is immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Masonic Rites and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to White Rock United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Knights Templar Eye Foundation or SPCA of Dallas.
