Mrs. Delina Close died at the home of her daughter at Garden City, Mo., last Friday. Her body was brought here and laid to rest in Union Chapel (South) cemetery Monday. She formerly lived here and was an aunt of C. C. Guilliams of this place.

Mrs. T. E. Chadd, of Garden City, Mo., brought the body of her mother, Mrs. T. B. Close, here Saturday for burial. She was laid to rest Sunday in the Union Chapel cemetery in Scott township.

Mrs. Fielding Close who was for years a resident of Madison county and one of the early settlers here, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. B. Chadd, at Garden City, Mo., on January 24th, aged 82 years, 11 months and 29 days. Her death was caused by pneumonia and she was only sick about a week. The body was brought to Hanley Sunday and the funeral and interment took place at Union Chapel on Monday.
Delina Close, born June 27, 1830 in Indiana to William Gilliams, Virginia, and Anna Burkett, North Carolina, married September 6, 1849 to James B. Hardesty. Six known children were born to them, William Joshua, Anna Maria, Susan Mary, Sarah Elizabeth, Artela Jane, and Pearlie. James died September 1, 1864. She remarried May 1, 1873 in Madison County, Iowa to Fielding B. Close. They had one known child, Robert. Fielding died June 28, 1910. She then moved to Missouri and lived with her daughter Artelia Chadd. She died January 24, 1913at 8:30 p.m., at the age of 82 years, 11 months, 29 days in Garden City, Cass County, Missouri of pneumonitis, arterosolerosis, R. D Ramey, M. D., burial in Union Chapel, South Township, Madison County, Iowa on January 27, 1913, J. M. Huffman, UT, Garden City, Informant, G. B. Chadd, Garden City, Missouri.
