SHREVEPORT, LA - A "Homegoing Celebration" for Matthew L. Anderson, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 14, 2010 at St. Rest Baptist Church in Shreveport. Family hour will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 13th. Interment will follow at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Keithville.
Mr. Anderson was born on October 12, 1932 in Atkins, LA to the late Maude Carmack and Robert Anderson. He slipped away from us into the eternity of a loving, merciful God on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 after a very lengthy illness.
He was an active member and Deacon of St. Rest Baptist Church until his health began to fail. He was also an active member of James O. Bampfield Consistory #53, Abdul Temple #94, a 33º of the United Supreme Council and a member of VFW Post #05951.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 54 years, Daisy Swayzer Anderson; sons, Robert Ray (Linda); Matthew, Jr.; daughter, Gail Harris (Gregory); four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Winnfield Funeral Home
