Box Elder Woman Dies in Billings
Mrs. Effie Virginia Bartlett, 81, of Box Elder, died early Tuesday at a Billings nursing home of a heart condition. She had been at the nursing home since April 1, and had lived previously with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Ferguson of Billings.
Mrs. Bartlett was born in Corona, Wisconsin, June 8, 1873, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jacoby. She came to Fort Benton with her parents in 1883. She was married to Howard A. Bartlett, Sr., Nov. 26, 1902, at Box Elder, and had lived there until coming to Billings in March. Mr. Bartlett died in Box Elder in 1928.
Surviving are four sons, Howard A. Bartlett, Jr., of Fairfield, John J. Bartlett of Great Falls, Thomas J. Bartlett and Robert F. Bartlett of Denver; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence Burdge of Bismark, N.Dak., Mrs. L.E. Padbury of Japan, and Mrs. Ferguson; a sister, Mrs. W.T. Cowan of Box Elder, and 10 grandchildren.
Funeral services at Van Orsdel Methodist Church in Box Elder. Burial in Havre cemetery.
