On March 15, 1910 in Emmitt, Ark., Symiria was born to her parents, Louis and Nobie Wesley. In 1935, Mrs. Symiria Adair moved to Oklahoma City, uniting with the Tabernacle Baptist Chruch, where she joined her mother, who had been a long time member. More recently, she moved her membership to the Northeast Missionary Baptist Church, where she served willingly and faithfully until her death.
Sis. Symiria Adair served as a missionary in the church. Associated with the same group of Christian sisters for over twenty years, she was a part of the WMU Circle Ten and Esther Circle of her respective churches. Sis. Adair served the members of Northeast Baptist Church and any others who had a special need as one of nine members of the WMU prayer chain.
Mrs. Symiria Adair worked from March 18, 1958 to May 30, 1975 as a cafeteria manager with the OKC Public Schools. Having a love for her work, she returned from retirement and on August 28, 1975, began working again, continuing until September of 1983.
Preceeded in death by her husband, George Adair, and a son, William Powell, and following her death, a son, Calvin Hudson.
She leaves to mourn her passing, a daughter, and son-in-law, Betty and Richard Hawkins, a stepdaughter, Thelma Adair Jones, one sister, Ione Wilburn; four grandchildren, LeWayne Stift, Regina Hawkins, Gwendolyn Hudson, and Shawndale Hudson; two great-grandchildren, Tiffany Stift and Eddie Wilson; three aunts, Dovie Howard, Gracie Hollaway, and Betrice Brown. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
