Marie was born in Houston, Texas Dec. 5,1939 to the late Russell Vernon and Frankie Esther (East) Johns.
She lived most of her adult life in West Texas. She married Nov. 1, 1972. This marriage brought much happiness to them and to their friends and family.
She was survived by her husband; brothers and sister n laws, children and their spouses, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She and her husband were members of the Sherwood Church of Christ in Odessa. Marie was involved in numerous organizations and actively participated in them all. She was a member of the Confederate Air Force for many years, serving the organization in many capacities. Marie had a deep interest in genealogy and was instrumental in
organizing the Ann Burton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists, as the charter regent. Other organizations include Daughters of the American
Revolution, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Permian Basin Genealogy Society, Juliet Fine Arts Society, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Beta Sigma Phi. Marie deeply loved her family, and the Lord provided her many blessings from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The joy they shared was a blessing from God.
