OBITUARY
Mrs. Mary Carlson was born in VetgSocken, Ostergosland, Sweden, January 21, 1842. United in marriage to John Carlson in 1865. To this union was born 7 children, two having preceded her to a better world. Alfred Theodor who died in infancy and Huldah Maria Nordstrom having reached the age of 31 years. She left her native land in the month of June 1871, two years later than her husband and located in Whitehall, Mich., where they made their home until the fall of 1879 when they came to Balsora, Nebr., and settled on a homestead and were among the first settlers having bravely withstood the hardships and trials of pioneer life.
She was baptized in August 1885 and united with the Baptist church of Balsora of which she was a loyal member until the summons came to her to join the triumphant congregation on the other side of the river. Her health was very poor for years and she was longing for the call to come, and went to sleep as a tired child having reached the age of 81 years and 6 days.
She was the last member of her immediate family, her brothers and sisters having preceded her. Her husband preceded her 3 years ago. She leaves to mourn her two sons and three daughters, Charles and David of Arcadia, Mrs. Henning Claussen of Darr, Nebr., Mrs. J.A. Roos and Amanda Carlson of Arcadia. Two grandchildren, Marie and David Nordstrom of Comstock, Nebr.
Funeral services were held from the home Tuesday, January 30, 1923, in charge of Rev. Carl V. Anderson, Swedish missionary for this district, and interment was made in the Swedish cemetery.
