Clifford attended the Brookings County rural schools and graduated from Elkton High School. On Dec. 10, 1948 he was united in marriage to Marion Bothern at Colman. He taught school in Lake Benton, later moving to Moody and Lake County rural schools. He moved to Colorado where he received his Masters degree and then to Lincoln, Neb. where he received his Doctorate. He taught at Purdue University and in August 1970 he moved to Oberlin, Kans. where he was school psychologist. He was an Army veteran of the Korean war.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Merry and Terry, both at home; three sisters, Mrs. Caroline Bushnell of North Dakota; Mrs. Marianne Fernholz, Lake Benton, Minn.; Mrs. Evelyn Bauer, Aurora, S. D.; two brothers, Alfred and Verne of Lodi, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents.
