Ole was born Ole Martinus Baardsen Lassemoen, the son of Baard Johnsen Ryan and Tibertine Olsdatter Lassemoen.

He had one sister, Elen Julie. He had eight half-siblings: Berthe Regine, Louis Peter, Lena Marie, Emma M. (i), Emma Thalette, Edward Theodore, Hattie Christine, and Annie Jorgine Winje.

Ole married Malla Vigesaa on February 28, 1886.

They were the parents of ten children: Bennett, Ernest, Cora, Thea, Odin, Mabel, Oral, Ruben, Carl, and Frank.

Double funeral services were held in the United Lutheran church at Leonard on Saturday, April 24, for Ole M. and Malla Johnson, aged couple of Leonard community who died within 20 hours of each other at the Clearwater Hospital in Bagley last week. Ole M. passed away at 11:32 a.m. on April 19, and his wife at 6:15 a.m. on April 20.
Rev. K. A. Knutson officiated at the double services, with burial being made in the East Zion Cemetery in Dudley township. The Halterman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ole M. Johnson was born in Trondjheim, Norway on August 6, 1860, being 87 years old at his death. Mrs. Johnson was born Malla Vigesaa, at LaCrosse, Wisconsin on April 20, 1868, being just 80 years old at the time of her death.
Mr. Johnson came to this country when just a young man, and met Mrs. Johnson, then Malla Vigesaa, at Granite Falls, Minnesota, where they were married February 28, 1886. They settled on a farm near there, and in 1901 moved to Fosston. Six years later, in 1917, with their family, they moved to Leonard, where they lived on their farm until their death.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and their children were members of the Lutheran church.
They are survived by the following children, now grown: Bennett Johnson, Clearbrook; Ernest, Richmond, California; Oral Johnson, Leonard; Ruben and Carl Johnson, Willamina, Oregon, and Frank Johnson, McMinnville, Oregon.
Also three sisters of Mr. Johnson: Mrs. E. Julia Larson, Minneapolis, Lena Winji and Emma Winji of Detroit Lakes; a brother of Mr. Johnson, Edward T. Winji, Kelvington, Sask., Canada. Also 21 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Sisters and brothers of Mrs. Johnson preceded her in death.
