On Saturday of last week one of our oldest and most highly respected citizens passed suddenly into the next state of existence, and his remains were reverently laid away on Sunday Oct. 16, 1892, in the Providence Cemetery. Mr. William Ailing had been ailing for sometime past, and being in the 84th years of his existence, it was but natural he should drop off and pass away at any moment, and so it was as we have above stated. He had lived in the parish as proprietor of Black Bayou Plantation for a number of years, quietly and unobtrusively pursuing the even tenor of his way. He was a good citizen, a kind friend, and reliable member of the human family.
