David was the son of Silas Bailey and Louisa (Mattison) Fisk. His siblings were: Elizabeth, Lucy, Henry, Silas Emory, Louisa A, and William.
David married Elizabeth Matilda Trulock in 1879. They had six children: Mary Francis, Ora Clydene, Effie, Laura, Carl B, and Florence.

David was a blacksmith by trade. He worked and traveled with the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show.

His granddaughter, Darlene Fisk Boardman, traveled with her husband, Loy, to Scenic in the early 1980's to find his burial place. His grave was unmarked. They made a simple headstone for his grave.
