The 1930 US Census of Decatur, Morgan Co., AL enumerated the household of 52 Y/O Arthur Edgar Greenhill, an insurance company agent (Metropolitan Life Insurance Company), and his 49 Y/O wife, Ethel Northern (Adams) Greenhill, born in Kentucky. Living in the household were their children: 17 Y/O Jean Greenhill; 13 Y/O Annie Greenhill, and 11 [sic] Y/O Lois Greenhill.

In 1938, a newspaper article in "The Decatur Daily" proclaimed, "25th Anniversary Celebrated Here".
It stated, "The 25th anniversary of A. E. Greenhill as an agent of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company was celebrated last night when Mr. Greenhill was guest of honor at a barbecued chicken dinner at Woodall's, given by his fellow agents of the Decatur staff and office workers. Mr. Greenhill was presented a diamond service pin. Among the guests was James H. Guire, assistant manager of the Indianapolis office, who started Mr. Greenhill with Metropolitan when Mr. Guire was assistant manager at Decatur a quarter of a century ago."

The 1940 US Census of Decatur, Morgan Co., AL enumerated the household of 63 Y/O Arthur Edgar Greenhill, an insurance company agent (Metropolitan Life Insurance Company), and his 59 Y/O wife, Ethel Northern (Adams) Greenhill, born in Kentucky. Also living in the household was their 20 Y/O daughter, Lois Greenhill, a store clerk.

The 1942 Decatur, Alabama City Directory recorded Arthur Edgar Greenhill and his wife, Ethel, living at 202 8th Ave, West. Also recorded as living in their household was their daughter, Lois Greenhill, who was employed as a typist for the WPA (Works Project Administration).

The Thursday, February 3rd, 1944 front page of "The Decatur Daily", among the blaring headlines and articles reporting the progress of the war against the Nazis and Japanese was a prominent article titled in large print, "JUROR DIES IN JURY BOX". It went on to say "Arthur E. Greenhill, 67, died suddenly at 9 o'clock this morning in the jury box while serving on the jury in the Morgan County Court. Mr. Greenhill had been in excellent health and was listening to the case of City of Decatur vs. Prentiss B. Lowery when he slumped forward in his chair and became unconscious immediately.
Dr. J. Y. Hamil was called but Mr. Greenhill was already dead, having passed away within two minutes time. The deceased had been retired for the passed three years and was an employee of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for 28 years. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Brown."

"Greenhill Rites Be Held Saturday

Funeral services for Arthur E. Greenhill, 67, who died suddenly Thursday morning while serving on the jury in the Morgan County Court, will be held at three p.m. Saturday at the Central Methodist church, Dr. H. M. Stevenson and Rev. G. C. Corley officiating. The funeral cortege will leave the residence, 202 Eighth Avenue West, at 2:40 p.m.
The deceased is survived by his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Joe Petty, of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Loyd Dinsmore of Decatur, and Miss Lois Greenhill, also of Decatur. One sister, Mrs. Charles Emens of Decatur; on brother-in-law, S. W. Adams of Detroit, Michigan, and three grandchildren.
His former associates of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.
Interment will be made in the City cemetery, Brown directing.
