~Murdoch Murchison~
The eldest son of Daniel and Mary Killough Murchison was born in Tennessee on Nov. 13, 1826. He was a pioneer citizen of Houston Co, Texas, having arrived there in 1848. He married Evalina Gossett June 15, 1852.
Murdoch and Evalina located a home about eight miles south of
Grapeland on the Old Palestine Road. They lived there many years, rearing a large family.
Their children were;
1. Andrew John b. 1853
2. Rhoda Jane b. 1856
3. Margaret Ann b. 1857
4. Sarah Evelina b. 1859
5. Mary Antonet b. 1862 d. 1870.
Evelina died April 10, 1862 and was buried in the Old Crockett Cemetery (Glenwood Cemetery).

The second wife of Murdoch was Maria Elizabeth Driskell b. March 2, 1837. She was Post Mistress at Ninevah, Leon Co, Texas and Murdoch was a mail carrier when they met. They were married June 23, 1863.
Shortly after this marriage, Murdoch served as a soldier in the Civil War.
Children of this marriage were;
1. Lorena E. b. 1866
2. Fanny Arabella b. 1868
3. Minnie Witt
4. Murdoch Daniel b. 1873
The children remained in Grapeland, Texas where they married and reared their own children.
Maria E. Murchison died the 30th of March 1896 and was buried in the Old Crockett Cemetery (Glenwood Cemetery) as well.

The third wife of Murdoch was Mary Ann McCray Hearon. They had no children.
Murdoch was a farmer. He lived in Grapeland with some of his children and died the 18th of March 1916 at the great age of 90 yrs. He too, was buried in the Old Crockett Cemetery (Glenwood Cemetery).
