Margaret Alice Olivier, daughter of Peter and Hendreka Van Hoekelem Olivier, was born July 22, 1918, in Pella, IA. As a youngster she attended country school and helped her family on the farm.
She married William Uitermarkt; they farmed near Runnels. She later married Charles Hampton, they lived in Davenport for a short time before moving to Oskaloosa in 1946.
Margaret worked at various manufacturing jobs in Oskaloosa in addition to caring for her family. Later she worked as a private homemaker aid and caretaker for numerous elderly individuals in their homes.
She married Leonard Langstraat April 10, 1998; they made their home together on a farm near Bussey.
Margaret was a past member of the Assembly of God and a long standing member of the Open Bible Church.
Margaret enjoyed people, she was a great visitor and cook; her home was a welcoming place where you could find good food and conversation. Her grandchildren will fondly remember her wonderful pies, especially the chocolate cream.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first two husbands: Bill Uitermarkt, May 19, 1989, and Charles Hampton, June 3, 1984; a great granddaughter, Lindsey Krusemark; four sisters: Bertha Uitermarkt, Tena Van Rees, Gertie Veenendaal and Josephine Olivier in infancy; and three brothers: Richard, John and Edward Olivier.
Memorials may be made to Mahaska Hospice or the Open Bible Church.
