Jean Cathern Hanson, age 74, of Austin, died on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Comforcare.

She was born May 15, 1935 to Fred and Lucille (Nelson) Moehlman at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin. A life long resident of Austin, Jean graduated from Austin High School in 1953. On April 8, 1956 she was married to Henry I. Hanson. To this union were born 3 children, Jeffrey, Stacy and Blake Hanson.
Jean was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Elks Lodge, Austin Y Matrons and the Austin Area Singles and Solos. She worked for the Austin Public Schools for 28 years. The last 14 years she was the secretary for the Athletic Department, and she retired in January 1998. She enjoyed working with the students and one of the highlights of her job was the annual Hall of Fame induction. Jean liked to quilt, knit, socialize with friends, dance and listen to music. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Henry I. Hanson and parents Fred and Lucille Moehlman.
She is survived by her children; Jeffrey (Joy) Hanson, Charleston, SC; Stacy (Elwin) Lee, Hudson, IA, Blake Hanson, Minneapolis, MN; beloved grandchildren, Luke Edward Kilgore, Samuel Henry Kilgore, Jessica Jean Lee, Gina Joy Hanson, Zachary Jay Hanson, Maximilian Henry Hanson, Alanna Marion Margaret Maloney; Sisters, Joyce McKenzie, Austin, Janith (Gary) Corkill, Austin, MN; Sisters-in-law, Lucille Hanson, Austin, MN, Arlouine (Ed) Williams, Issaquah, WA; Special friend Virgil Bosma, many Nieces and Nephews

Funeral services will he held on Tuesday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Reverend Ron Barnettofficiating. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday and at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday.
Memorials are preferred to the family.
