Steven was born on January 15, 1955 to Archie and Anita (Ryberg) Abrahamson in St. Paul. He was raised in the Almelund area and graduated from North Branch High School class of 1973 where he was very active in athletics especially football and track. He also served as homecoming king his senior year. After high school he attended Winona State University before going to Kodiak, Alaska where he worked on a fishing boat. From there he moved to the Los Angeles area where he worked for a cruise line and also worked in the hospitality industry. While in Los Angeles he also appeared in several television commercials. He also tried out for the Houston Oilers football team as well as trying out for the Olympics before an injury took him out of qualifying. Steve again felt the urge to move and experience all life had to offer and moved to England where he met his wife Vicky. Steve was married to Vicky in England and together they owned a pub called Rose of Denmark. Steve and Vicky moved back to Minnesota where he remained until his death. Steve worked in the hospitality services and hotel management as well as restaurant management. He loved spending time sitting in the woods and enjoying Gods creations. He liked fishing, collecting baseball cards and coins. He was very fond of the Husky dogs he has owned over the years
Steve is survived by his wife, Vicky; son, Kyle of Chicago, Il; brothers, Randy (Friend Melissa) Abrahamson of Grandview, WI; Daryl (Julie) Abrahamson of North Branch; sisters, Cyndy (Paul) Tubbs of Rush City and Teresa (Curt) Carlson of Chisago City; half brother, Von S. Bandenburg; half sisters, Darcy Brandenburg, Debra Brandenburg and Renee Cyrmak. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Almelund with Rev. Brian Bergin and Rev. Scott Hartley officiating. Organist will be Pat Reimer and soloist is Sherrie Nordquist. Serving as casket bearers are Curt Carlson, Tad Erickson, Norman Peterson, Mike Storm, Marlin Ness and Earl Ostertag.
