Opal Copeland, 90, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at her home. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Lawn Baptist church. Burial will be in Dewey Cemetery, directed by Fry-bartlett Funeral Hoem in Tuscola. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Opal M. Copeland, 90, died Friday, March 12, 2010, at her home. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, in Lawn Baptist Church with the Reverends Price Mathieson and Lynn Turnbow officiating. Burial will be in Dewey Cemetery directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Opal was born August 19, 1919, in Lawn to Mark Henry and Bessie Annie Grant Zimmerlee. She attended school in Dewey and Lawn. She married Alton Dale Copeland October 22, 1936, in Lawn. The couple lived in the Lawn area until moving to Sweetwater in 1943. Opal worked at Simmons Memorial Hospital as a certified nurse's aid, as a seamstress at Walls Industries and later worked in the family business, Copeland's Texaco Station. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Sweetwater. In 2001, she and Alton moved to Abilene.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her step-mother, Ada Zimmerlee; one daughter, Janice Marie Kite; two brothers, Marcus and Roger Zimmerlee; and one great-grandson, Trevor Bond Copeland.

Survivors include her husband, Alton of Abilene; one son, Richard Copeland and wife Janice of Sand Springs: 10 grandchildred; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.

The family wants to express a special thanks to the impatient staff of Hendrick Hospice and to the homecare staff, Jodi, Peggy and Fifi.
