Darla Hood - (Darla of 'Our Gang')

HOLLYWOOD, June 15 (AP) — Darla Hood, the dark‐eyed, curly haired female member of the "Our Gang" kid comedy troupe of the 30's, died Wednesday in Canoga Park hospital. She was 48 years old.

The cause of death was unknown, and an autopsy was scheduled, according to a spokesman for the Pierce Brothers Mortuary.

Miss Hood appeared in 132 "Our Gang" comedy films from 1935 to 1942. Known as the sweetheart of the series, Miss Hood remained active in show business throughout her life.

For many years, she was a featured part of Jimmy McHugh's nightclub act, appeared on numerous radio and television shows and was seen in two motion pictures, "The Calypso Heat Wave" and The Helen Morgan Story." She also appeared in television commercials.

Darla Jean Hood was born on November 4, 1931 in Leedey, Okla. to James Claude and Elizabeth Davner Hood. Miss Hood lived in North Hollywood at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Granson; a son, Brett; a daughter, Darla Jo, and a step-daughter, Robin.
