She was born in Kokomo, Ind., the daughter of William Penrod and De Etta Slater Penrod.
She was preceded in death by her husband William L. Sutherland, and one son, William L. Sutherland Jr. She had one sister, Kathryn Rice formerly of Springfield and Santa Monica, CA and one Brother William H. Penrod JR of Springfield both now deceased.
Mrs. Sutherland was employed as a teacher, having taught at schools in Oak Park and Springfield District 186. She was a member of Elizabeth Downing Kings Daughters Circle, the Retired Teachers Association and the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving is one son, John P. Sutherland of Gilbert, AZ, seven grandchildren & nine great grandchildren.
