Mrs. G. Hunt Dies January 21 At Dodson Home
Mrs. Gilbert Hunt, who has been active in Dodson community affairs for many years, died unexpectedly at her home Tuesday night, January 21.
She had lived in that area since she was a young girl. Mrs. Hunt was a member of the Dodson Church of Christ and Home Demonstration Club, but her interest and work over many years included other community activities, the school, as well as her wide circle of friends.
The former Ruth Royal, she was born November 12, 1901. in Montague County, daughter of the late Sam N. and Nora Britton Royal. She lived there until coming to Collingsworth County. She was married to Mr. Hunt June 28, 1919, in Wellington.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, January 24, at 3:00 p.m. in the Dodson Church of Christ, with Min. Truman Teel officiating. Burial was in the Dodson Cemetery under the direction of Kelso Funeral Home, Pall bearers were grandsons.
Survivors include four sons, Howard Hunt of Dodson, Vance Hunt of New Hartford, New York, Dale Hunt of Dallas and Kenneth Hunt of Grand Prairie; two daughers, Mrs. Erma Lee Duckworth of Lockney and Mrs, Marilyn Carton of Lone Wolf; a brother, Burley Royal of Hollis; and a sister, Mrs. Annie Lee Kellison of Lockney; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death April 9, 1965, and her oldest son, Lt. Elba Hunt, was killed in action in 1945, while serving in World War 11.
