After several years of ever declining health, at 67 years of age, on Saturday the 7th of March, Wallace Keith Tidwell left us. He left his mark in this world by his military record and by the enduring legacy of values instilled in his children and grandchildren.

Wallace was the fourth son of Frank Vernon and Leatha Sperry Tidwell of Nephi, Utah. In the prime of life, Wallace was an unquestioning patriot and professional combat soldier, serving more than 22 years in the United States Army retiring as a First Sergeant. Trained as an Artilleryman, he held a number of increasingly responsible positions in his military career. Among other accomplishments, Wallace served two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded two Bronze Stars in recognition of his gallantry, bravery and deliberate execution of military skill while under fire. In carrying out his duties he also received the Purple Heart for wounds received in action. He was rightfully very proud of his overall military accomplishments, especially his service with the 1st Air Cavalry Division in Vietnam and the 1st Infantry Division in Korea.Wallace is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Maurine Tidwell; children, Justin (Ruby), North Ogden; William (Jean), Ephraim; Thomas (Ruth), Veyo; Sue (Henry), Monroe. In addition to his children he will also be missed by his remaining brothers and sisters, numerous grandchildren and other extended family members and friends.

In keeping with his wishes, Wallace will be buried with full military honors on Wednesday, March 11, 1998, 2 p.m. at Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah. Under the direction of McDougal Funeral Home.
