Elsie Marie Petersen, daughter of Peter and Anna Andersen Petersen, was born November 22, 1899, on a farm near Ruskin, Nebraska, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Center in Superior April 10 at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 18 days.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Ruskin.

February 18, 1920, she was married to Martin Petersen. To this union four children were born. She lived her entire life in the Hardy, Ruskin and Superior communities. Mrs. Petersen moved from her own home to the Good Samaritan Center in Superior in June, 1983.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Martin, in 1963; one son, Wayne; a daughter, Wilma Eitzmann; four brothers, Ezra, Jens, Walter and Alvin; and one sister, Mary Nelson.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Rex (Myrna) Sykes of Superior; one son, Virgil Petersen of Ionia, Missouri; one sister, Mabel Andreason of Webber, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 13, at 2 p.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, with Rev. Charles Mueller officiating. Burial was in the Spring Creek Cemetery near Ruskin.

Music was provided by a duet of LaMira Mueller and Pat Padre singing "In The Garden" and "Beyond The Sunset," with Carlita Price as organist and accopanist (sic). Casketbearers were Keith Petersen, Don Andreason, Glenn Andreason, Kenneth Nelson, Berwyn Petersen and Gary Brinegar.
