The Evening Star (Washington, D.C.) April 25, 1899 page 5
Mrs. Charlotte Atwater, widow of Capt. M.B. Atwater, died yesterday in this city, aged seventy-five years.
The deceased came to Washington from Wausau, Wis., with Mr. Pradt’s family in October, 1897, making her home with them. Her husband, after settling up his extensive business interests in the west, joined them two months later. Captain Atwater died in February following his arrival in this city. Since his death Mrs. Atwater had been continuously in ill health, and during the sever blizzard which recently visited Washington she contracted a cold which culminated in a severe shock to her nervous system and resulted in her death.
She leaves two children, the elder of who is William C. Atwater, a broker of Chicago, and the other the wife of Assistant Attorney General Pradt. She will be buried by the side of her husband at Arlington.
