Mr. Acker was a farmer whose home was near Beatrice, NE. He and his son had been
visiting friends near Ottawa, KS, and were on their way home. His son escaped
drowning but Cyrus did not. He had been a large contractor on the B&M Railroad
in Nebraska. He left two sons and two daughters. His watch had stopped at 1:01,
the time of the drowning.
