"Minister of the Gospel for 73 years. He graduated from Huntland High School in Huntland, in 1936. He attended Bob Jones College, Cleveland, TN and Texas A & M, College Station, TX. Mr. Cole served his country in the U.S. Army in the Hawaiian Islands and in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Atlantic Theatre. In Italy at the time of the surrender; crossed the Atlantic Ocean 13 times during the war to participate in campaigns in France, Belgium, North Africa, Italy. He preached his first sermon at a gospel meeting in the Walnut Grove community in Franklin County. He preached at every Church of Christ in Franklin County and at most churches in adjacent counties as well as throughout the United States and in most of Canadian provinces. He conducted singing and song leading classes; taught seminars and workshops on evangelism; coordinated community campaigns; taught home Bible studies; held gospel meetings; taught Bible classes; spoke on the radio; worked with church youth and the Franklin County-Wide Youth Bible Quiz Program for many years. His accomplishments in life were many, but the focus of his life was the Lord's church and its mission."
