She was the sife of Abraham VanMeter Conklin, the son of James Wright Conklin and Matilda VanMeter. At the time of the 1880 Census of Short Creek, Grayson County, Kentucky the Abraham VanMeter Conklin family consisted of: A. V., a farmer, age 34; his wife, Mary E., age 22; and their children: Ella, age 3 and son Minor E., age 9 months, who was named for his maternal grandfather.
Her husband Abraham died at the age of 60 years, 10 months and 9 days on December 15, 1906. He was buried in the Hanging Rock Church Cemetery off Highway #259 in Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky. Mary joined him there after her death 41 years later at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 22 days on December 2, 1947.
