Services for Billy Connell, 79, of Temple will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple with Wayne McKemie officiating.
Mr. Connell died Monday, May 28, in a Temple hospital.
He was born in Rogers. He worked at the Temple branch of Southwestern Bell Telephone for 32 years as a repeaterman technician and worked with their microwave stations. He served in the Army during World War II, serving with Gen. George Patton's 3rd Army in Europe and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received numerous awards including the Bronze Star, the EAME Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. He graduated from Temple High School and NTAC at Arlington. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He spent most of his life in Temple.
Survivors are his wife, Dr. Anna D. Connell of Temple; one son, Keith Connell of Temple; one daughter, Melissa Connell of Temple; one brother, John David Connell; and one sister, Betty Jo Schwake of Temple.
Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at Sheffield Funeral Home in Temple.
