Harold Dean Carruth, 64, of Lavaca passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, in Fort Smith. He was born July 10, 1945, in Charleston to Horace Carruth and Helen Luzak Carruth. He was a pipe fitter for more than 30 years with Union Local No. 669 and worked for Sebastian County Golf Course. He was a Navy Seabee veteran, serving in Vietnam, and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Greenwood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Helen Carruth, and one brother, Henry Carruth.

Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Church of the Nazarene in Greenwood with the Rev. Mike Roach officiating and burial at Carruth Cemetery, east of Lavaca, under the direction of Smith Mortuary in Charleston.

Survivors are his wife, Donavea Carruth of the home; two daughters, Natasha and husband Jeff Ingram of Lavaca and Tonya and husband Jimmy Wright of Van Buren; one granddaughter, Madison Ingram, who was the joy of his life and lovingly called him "Poppie"; two brothers, Howard and Shirley Carruth of Lavaca and Johnny and Karen Carruth of Argyle, Texas; and one sister-in-law, Pat Carruth of Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Wright, Jeff Ingram, K.C. and Max Carruth, Charles Ezzell, Steve Treat and Grayson Moore.
