DAVIS, KATHERINE FRANCES STANELY, June 5, 1924 - April 3, 2004, age 79, of Chickasaw, AL, died April 3, 2004. She was born in Shubura, MS on June 5, 1924 to the late E. G. and Vardie Stanley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Mayor J. C. Davis, Jr.; her parents and 2 brothers, E. G. Stanely, Jr. and Chester H. Stanley.
Survivors include her 4 sons and their families, Dr. and Mrs. James G. Davis (Jeannie) of Birmingham, Mr. and Mrs. William C. Davis (Brenda) of Mobile, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald P. Davis (Kay) of Mobile and Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Davis (Melissa) of Mobile. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph C. Stanley of Shubuta, MS; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Jeannette Walker of Waynesboro, MS and Mrs. Mary Ann Thomas of Laurel, MS. In addition, she is survived by 7 grandchildren, Clay Davis, Drew Davis, both of Mobile, Reed Davis, Chris Davis, both of Birmingham, Hayley Davis, Katherine Davis and Riley Davis, all of Mobile. She was an active member of the Chickasaw Methodist Church for 62 years participating in every aspect of the church's ministry. She also worked for more than 20 years in the Mobile County School System helping to educate children in reading programs. She will be remembered for the love of her family, friends, community and church that she worked tirelessly for and for her brave fight during the last year of her life to an incurable illness. The family will receive friends at Radney's Funeral Home in Saraland, AL on Monday, April 5, 2004 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the Chickasaw United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, AL.
