Surfside Beach--- Arthur Elmo Burks, 68, died Thursday, May 23, 1996, at a Charleston hospital.
He was born Feb. 14, 1928, in Lynchburg, Va., a son of Cecil and Mary Page Burks.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 30 in Myrtle Beach and the VFW. Mr. Burks was a Protestant and retired as an Army technical sergeant.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Wills Burks; a son, Mark E. Burks of Stafford, Va.; two brothers, Cecil M. Burks Jr. of Steubenville, Ohio, and B. Browning Burks of Richmond, Va.; and a granddaughter.
A private graveside service will be in Arlington National Cemetery. J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home, downtown chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
