EULESS – Martha Bagby Allison, 89, formerly of Merkel, died Saturday, March 26, 2005 in a Euless nursing center. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Merkel First Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.

Martha was born November 28, 1915 in Wood County to George and Mary Henderson Hibbs. She married Odis Bagby on August 15, 1934 in Quitman. He preceded her in death on August 13, 1963. She married Lem Allison on July 10, 1976 in Anson. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1993. Martha had worked at the Merkel School Cafeteria and Lankford's Manufacturing Company in Abilene. She was a member of the Merkel First Baptist Church, sang in the choir and belonged to the Golden Saints. Martha sang in the Sweet Adelines in Abilene. She was a seamstress and gardener. She moved to Euless from Merkel in 1997.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Johnson and husband, Mike of Bedford, Conita Palmer of Dixon, NM; a son, Danny Bagby and wife, Dorothy of West Point, VA; five grandchildren, Vicki Groce, Tony Palmer, Tracy Goodwin, Kellye Bagby, David Bagby and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Tim Bagby.
