L.T.W. Ball, After an illness of a month, preceded by more or less unsatisfactory health for a long time, L. T. W. Ball passed away at his home in the northwest part of town at 12:35 Wednesday morning. Mr. Ball was born January 17, 1847 in Jennings county, Kentucky, where he lived until after the war. He enlisted December 23, 1863, as a private in company C 10th Cavalry at Indianapolis and was discharged at Vicksburg, Mississippi, August 31, 1865. He later located in Missouri and in Ottawa county in that state he married August 29, 1876 to Miss S. A. McNeil. They came to Smith county in 1878 and entered a homestead in Dor township where they lived until they came to Smith Center. They had three children: William who died in Infancy, Noah E. who died in January, 1915, and Clara M. who died in May 1888. He leaves no other near relative except his wife. He was a member of the Christian church and the G.A.R. Funeral services are being held today by Rev. V. B. Sims and interment will be in Fairvew cemetery.
